Patrick Weichert: A Look at Pet Trusts

Patrick Weichert is a veteran who is a member of the Veterans Benefit Network, and he is a life member of the Disabled American Veterans organization. Aside from his military career, he was a practicing clinical psychologist before he retired. He continues to put his professional abilities to good use assisting other former service members through the Veterans Benefit Network. This active senior is also passionate about the plight of unwanted animals. He rescues and trains Border Collies and Siberian Huskies, and he is also a Humane Society volunteer.

When you attain senior citizen status, a lack of companionship can become a challenge. You may lose your spouse at some point in time, and you will not have daily interactions with coworkers after you retire. A pet can be the ideal solution, but many seniors take pause because they are concerned about predeceasing their dog or cat. This is a legitimate concern, and a Humane Society volunteer like Patrick Weichert would know a lot about animals that are left behind by owners that pass away. However, there is a solution that can make pet ownership comfortable for seniors.

Pet trusts are legal in most states in the union at this point. If you establish a pet trust, you convey assets into the vehicle, and you name a trustee. In the trust declaration, you leave behind instructions that the trustee would be legally compelled to follow with regard to the way that the pet is cared for after your passing. A pet trust can give a lonely senior the opportunity to adopt a new best friend without taking any risks, and this is a piece of information that animal advocates like Patrick Weichert can share with potential adopters.

Patrick Weichert Addresses Community Needs

Patrick Weichert is a Vietnam veteran, so he demonstrated early on that he was willing to serve others in the most profound way possible. He was in the United States Marine Corps, and he is now a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organization. This former service member is also active in the Veterans Benefits Network. He advises veterans about benefits, and he helps them understand mental health issues. This individual is well-equipped to provide this kind of mentoring, because he is a clinical psychologist with a PhD from Union Institute.

In addition to his work with veterans, he does other things that make the community a better place. We have a big problem with unwanted companion animals in the United States, and Patrick Weichert tries to do something about it. The Humane Society is often stretched to its limits because of the volume of animals that are in need of homes, and they can use all the help that they can get. He is a Humane Society volunteer, and this shows a great deal of compassion. Devoting your time is one thing, and it is a significant sacrifice, but it can also be heart wrenching work. It can be difficult physically and emotionally, but he is still willing to pitch in to help these animals.

Though he is willing to assist all types of animals at the Humane Society, he has a particular interest in two particular dog breeds. Many people are aware of the unique abilities that Border Collies possess. They are extremely intelligent, and they are also quite agile. In fact, when you watch canine agility competitions on television, you will often see a Border Collie atop the leaderboard. These herding dogs are happiest when they have something to do, and they are extremely loyal companions who make great pets. Patrick Weichert knows a great deal about the virtues of the breed, because he rescues Border Collies, and he also trains them. The other breed that he has a special connection with is the Siberian Husky, and he is involved in Husky training and rescue efforts as well.

Patrick Weichert: Retirement Planning for Veterans

Patrick Weichert is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and people who serve our country make many sacrifices. There are no words to express the debt of gratitude that we owe to these brave men and women, but they are rewarded with some useful benefits that can make life easier for them when they are senior citizens.

If you remain in the military for at least 20 years, you become eligible for a retirement pension. The exact amount of your pension benefit will depend upon the length of service, so the longer you serve, the higher your benefit will be up to a certain point. The existence of the military retirement pension can provide service members with retirement planning options, and this is something that Patrick Weichert is well aware of as a former Marine. Many people join the service when they are quite young. To provide an example, let’s say that you enter the military when you are 18 years of age right after you graduate from high school. If you stay on active duty for 20 years, you will be 38 years old, and you will have two decades of military experience on your resume.

At that point, you could choose to retire from the armed forces and begin a career in the private sector. You would be eligible for a pension, so you could potentially live on your salary at your new job while you save your pension benefits for the future. Of course, it would also be possible to stay in the military beyond 20 years so that you receive a larger pension when you do in fact put your career behind you. This is just one military benefit, but there are others, and Patrick Weichert advises veterans about them through the work that he does for the Veterans Benefit Network.

In addition to his military related interests, Patrick Weichert is also into poetry. This is an individual who holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology, so he has a very extensive academic background. When you think about poetry, you may envision a very formal, stiff format. Indeed, there are many traditional forms like sonnets, haiku poetry, odes, narrative poems, and epic works. However, even if you do not consider yourself to be a writer with formal technical abilities, you can choose to express yourself through poetry.

A poem can simply be a way to externalize your internal feelings and/or thought processes. It can come naturally if you decide to put pen to paper with an open heart and an open mind. You can write a poem that rhymes if this is your choice, but many of the best poems ever written do not rhyme (though they do have rhythmic qualities). Patrick Weichert writes poetry, and his work will always live on as a meaningful part of his legacy.

Volunteering is often promoted as a way to help others who are less fortunate than yourself or who are in immediate of assistance. While this is certainly true, volunteering can also be beneficial to one’s mental and emotional health. This is primarily because volunteering provides a safe environment to connect with other people while doing work to improve one’s own community. By volunteering, you will make new friends and contacts, which exposes you to a wider circle of people who share common interests and regional closeness. This is especially important for people who struggle to make new acquaintances or who are shy.
